Palazzo Doglio

Palazzo Doglio is one of the few 5-star hotels in Cagliari, the capital of Sardinia. This modern city is the largest on the island and offers various sights, monuments, and beaches. It is easily accessible, as it is served by both a port and an airport. However, it is not a destination for a relaxing beach holiday; furthermore, the tourist services are nowhere near the standard one would expect from a typical tourist city or resort—whether in Sardinia or elsewhere. (For instance, we spent over an hour waiting for a taxi in the rain at 11:00 PM; the hotel concierge proved inadequate and failed to offer any solution, leaving us to figure it out on our own.) The spa is undoubtedly the hotel’s strongest feature. The restaurant and other services do not reach the level of the prestigious 5-star establishments found on the Costa Smeralda. On the positive side, its location in the heart of Cagliari allows guests to reach all the most interesting areas on foot. We will not be returning—to Cagliari in general—given our dismal experience with the city's tourist services.
