Cala Luna

Cala Luna cannot be reached by car. On foot, it requires a hike of several hours along steep trails, under the heat of central Sardinia. The only remaining option is by boat. This incredible cove can be accessed from the tourist ports to the south—Santa Maria Navarrese and Tortolì-Arbatax—or from Cala Gonone to the north, all within a boat trip of less than an hour. The sight that greets you is magnificent. The blue of the Tyrrhenian Sea, the white of the volcanic tuff—into which the area’s characteristic caves have been carved—and the vibrant green of the Mediterranean scrub make this a truly special place. Simply stunning. With no towns nearby, strong currents, and pristine white sand, the color of the sea here is beyond description. It is a place that must be seen with one’s own eyes.
