Gouffre de Padirac, Padirac, Occitanie, France. A truly wonderful, and VIP, experience.

The Gouffre de Padirac is a massive chasm leading into an enormous cave, located 140 meters underground and traversed by a subterranean river.
Visitors can choose between a standard entrance or a "VIP" option, which includes a private guide for the 2-hour tour, a bottle of champagne accompanied by a tasting of local products 140 meters below ground, and priority access to the elevators and boats. We opted for the VIP experience, and I would recommend it to anyone. It is an incredible place, presented masterfully, a truly unique experience. The tasting, held in one of the cave’s chambers, was simply marvelous.
The journey begins with a descent via three elevators (or stairs, for the more athletic), nearly 100 meters down into the vast chasm. This alone is an incredible experience: it might be 40°C (104°F) and tank-top weather at the surface, but once you reach the bottom, it’s 10°C (50°F)—time for a sweatshirt!
From there, you continue down a staircase to the boat landing, where you board a small craft—steered by cave staff much like a Venetian gondola—and travel through the cave along the crystal-clear waters of the underground river. A walking path then leads you into the cave’s majestic chambers, some reaching nearly 100 meters in height.
A unique location, an incredible experience. Gouffre de Padirac
