Domaine de Rochebois in Vitrac, Dordogne, is a 4-star resort featuring an 18-hole golf club and a restaurant with a 2-fork Michelin rating. A separate review of the restaurant, Le M, can be found in the restaurant section. We have visited twice; the first time, we were not impressed. On this occasion, we booked a junior suite with a terrace/garden. The room was very spacious and well-appointed; the patio opened directly onto the pool area while still offering a reasonable degree of privacy—it was truly lovely. The property itself is also very beautiful; unfortunately, the staff and services fall short. It is rather odd that the spa and the Turkish bath/sauna require separate booking processes (as a result, I skipped the latter—I had only booked the spa/hot tub/indoor pool area... fortunately, it was warm enough to use the outdoor pool). If you happen to run into any staff, they might explain how to navigate the long corridors and stairs with your luggage—without offering any assistance. Furthermore, on both of our visits, the elevator we needed was out of service (on each occasion, it was a different lift). This second visit left us even less convinced; we have decided not to return, despite the beautiful location.
